Dear Friend
In late March, the WCMA Board announced I had transitioned
to a part-time role with WCMA and full-time minister at Westwood Christian
Church in Madison. This
transition took place as we are working to develop a network of churches and
organizations to partner on a Wisconsin
church plant. Now I would like to give you more details on the
development of a network.
In a church planting network, the network partners will determine
the broad vision, goals, and values of the new church, select the church
planter, work with the church planter to determine the location of the
plant, and provide individuals to serve on the management team for the
plant. In the past, WCMA has filled these roles with church plants, but
we intend through this approach to bring the expertise of other church
leaders into the decision making process. WCMA will work to develop the
network and will be one of the partners in the network once it is
developed.
Funding for the church plant will be developed from the network
partners, with each partner giving an amount that they agree on for the
church plant over three years. We are looking for giving to the project
to look something like this:
Giving by network partners over three years
·
5 churches give $3,500 per
year
$52,500
·
2 churches give $4,500 per
year
$27,000
·
2 churches give $5,500 per
year
$33,000
·
1 church gives $6,500 per
year
$19,500
·
2 anchor partners give $12,000 per
year
$72,000
Total
$204,000
Stadia: New Church Strategies (one of the premier church planting
organizations among Christian churches) has a proven record of success
with church plants and with church planting networks. By partnering with
them, we will have access to their proven systems for successfully
planting churches and for developing church planting networks. You can
learn more about Stadia’s approach to church planting networks by viewing
the video at this Internet address: http://www.stadia.cc/resources/vid_stadia.asp. In order to partner with them, we first
need to raise $50,000 in order to bring them on board.
Our first goal in this effort, therefore, is to raise $50,000
by the end of June 2009. Since we have reduced our salary and administrative
overheads, we will be putting more money toward this goal from our
general fund. We also have one church that is already giving money
monthly toward this goal. Would you and your congregation be willing to
help us reach this goal? Would your church leadership be willing to talk
to us about how they can partner with us in this effort?
We hope you will partner with us in this bold effort to move
church planting forward in Wisconsin.
WCMA Board members or I will be glad to meet with your church leadership
to further discuss this next step in our church planting efforts.
Love in Jesus,

Kenneth E. Henes
