 WCMA HISTORY

The WCMA was first organized in 1853 as a state association of churches which would promote the work of Wisconsin’s Restoration Movement churches. In 1894, the name Wisconsin Christian Missionary Association was adopted, and in 1895, the organization was incorporated in the State of Wisconsin.

As the organization promoted the work of the church in the state, it cooperated in planting new churches, and by the mid-1900’s was primarily a church planting organization.

In the late 1990’s the name Wisconsin Christian Missionary Association was changed to WCMA, Inc. The organization was known as WCMA by its constituency, so the Board adopted that name formerly, to make the name easier to say.
